TEN WAYS TO PUT UP A TENT

Gastspiel von Tanzhaus

Camping is an act of faith and survival. As he walks into the unknown, Q feels well prepared, well for this. Q has water, has food, and importantly, Q has shelter. Q is a full-grown adult and has in a rite of passage way decided to go out and make a connection to nature. As in rite of passage, nobody from Q’s ancestors have ever willfully picked up a tent and walked out into a forest to enjoy themselves. So we cannot call it rite of passage then or even cultural heritage. We might as well call it what Q0s mother called it. She calls it ’not the nicest thing in the world‘.

The act of putting up a tent is a precarious one, what appears to be a temporary act of housing soon leads to an encampment, a trigonometrical survey, a railway track, and before you know it, they’re fighting for independence and stuff. Sometimes it isn’t like that, it’s just two days in the alps.
